Retreat Report June 8 – 12 2019

The first Track Your Life Retreat of the season was one of our best to date.  Beautiful winter conditions made for great tracking of both rhino and lion.  We also had the rare chance to follow the drag mark of a female leopard that pulled a duiker she had killed into a Tamboti grove. This Track Your Life retreat saw a particularly cold July winter make for beautiful crisp dawns and clear starlit skies each morning when we went out at 5 am. Each day started with meditation and contemplation as the dawn broke. We tracked rhino on the first day and were unsuccessful in the morning but had a superb sighting on foot in the afternoon. The first Track Your Life Retreat of 2018 saw a wonderful group of people returning to once again engage this ancient art form. We were lucky with a beautiful fresh rhino track on the first morning. Retreat Report July 2017

This retreat saw us on the trail of a large herd of buffalo. Rhino tracking was a big challenge as the ground was hard but the trackers showed their signature conviction. Huge herds of elephants meant that some of the trails we were on were lost but this never dettered us. Mornings began with very deep bushveld meditations and long hours of walking. Winter 2017 was a particularly dry year creating incredible tracking conditions. Participants tracked rhino and buffalo. The lion tracking was amazing and on two separate occasions we found the pride after hours of being on their trail. We slept out one night to the sound of five different species of owl calling all around us and a leopard calling in a nearby dry riverbed.
